Honor Festivals

Outstanding Lincoln Band students are provided with the opportunity to perform in the Illinois Music Educators' Association Junior High Band Festival. Auditions for IMEA are held in the fall (October 6th, 2012 in Geneseo). Audition music is handed out to advanced students at the beginning of the school year. Students that are selected for the event have an all-day Saturday rehearsal in preparation for the festival concert that evening (November 10th, 2012 at Augustana College).

This year, Lincoln had six students audition for IMEA:  Kira (flute), Maryssa (clarinet), Hailey (sax), Gabby (trumpet), Emily (trumpet), and Kelly (percussion).  The competition at auditions was fierce and three students from Lincoln were selected to participate at the District Festival on November 10th.  Those three students are Gabby, Emily, and Kelly.  Congratulations to all students that auditioned for their excellent work!  We're proud of you.

IVCC Honor Festival: **Canceled in 2012-2013 Due to Auditorium Construction**

Outstanding junior high band students are selected from the Illinois Valley area to participate in the Illinois Valley Community College Junior High Honor Band Festival. All of the outstanding students perform together in one honor band directed by the college conductor. There are two rehearsals in preparation for the concert, as well as clinics presented by local professional musicians.  Unfortunately, the event had to be canceled due to construction on the IVCC auditorium.
